Maximizing Invisalign’s Effects

Invisalign: the clear, removable alternative to braces. No more diet restrictions or clunky brackets! How can you make the most of your Invisalign aligners?

Leave them in

Your Invisalign aligners need to be left in for at least 22 hours a day to maximize effectiveness. Any less, and your teeth may not move where or as fast as they should. You might even undo your treatment! Remember to put your retainers back in after eating.

Change aligners as prescribed

Your orthodontist will tell you when to switch your aligners. If you switch aligners too quickly or too slowly, your teeth may not move as planned or suffer from other issues (such as root resorption).

If you lose or break an aligner, call your orthodontist. You will likely need to move back an aligner set or start using the next one.

Keep your appointments

Just like treatment with braces, treatment with Invisalign requires check-up appointments. These appointments will help your orthodontist make sure you aren’t having issues with treatment. If any adjustments are needed, they will happen during these appointments. Missing these appointments puts you at risk of delaying the end of treatment.

Speed it up

There are a few ways to speed up orthodontic treatment. A popular method is Propel, which one of our patients used! You can find her journey with accelerated orthodontics here!
